Description
Solar Flare is a 124 pound aluminum frame
robot with 1/4 to 1/2 inch aluminum armor. It has four
DC motors driving four coaxial wheels for a combined
pushing force of 66 lbs. Differential steering control is
performed by a custom-built control system. The
control system consists of two microcontrollers linked
by a serial RF system and a custom joystick and
button assembly, as well as two custom speed
controls for the motors. The weapon of choice for Solar
Flare (and its name sake) is a propane flamethrower.
